HOG LAN#1 Zagreb 2022 - Interview: SUNSPINX (APES)

"Honestly only acceptable scenario for everybody in our team is being the Winner." says SUNSPINX

1. Hello SUNSPINX, first of all I’d like to thank you for taking part in this interview. Could you introduce yourself to the people who don't know you?

Hello, for those who doesn't know me I'm SUNSPINX, 24 years old playing cod4 since 2009 with small breaks mostly after 2015 and I'm the co-owner of FPSChallenge.

2. Currently you are playing for team APES, could you tell us your story? How long has your team been playing together in this formation and how did you find each others?

APES, previously CZECHIA is playing together for longer time now I'd say the core plays together since the revival of CoD4 (start of COVID) with small changes. After end of P2P cups back in 2020 I've been mostly mixing or doing sub for them joining the full line-up in the beginning of Winter League. We know each other for a long time both as a teammates or opponents.

3. What are your strengths or weaknesses in the team?

I'd say that our stength is the ability to adapt to different playstyles, and experience from many LANs. Hard to say what our weaknesses are but it's definitely our greedyness when we lose 1v5/1v4 just because of hunting people in spawn, and of course mp_backlot :D.

4. More than two years past since the last international LAN has been organized in 2020. Have you used to go to LAN events before? How much LAN experience do you have from OFFLINE events?

I attended and won my first LAN in 2012 with FoXx after we were accused of cheating due to our age at that time (13 or 14). During the prime time (2012-2015) I won two hungarian LANs and was TOP2 on 4 Czech LANs. To mention Czechia and Hungary had a lot of strong teams at that time such as eSuba, Cyborg Factory, Gunrunners, eEriness, ANEXIS, WiLD so we gained a lot of experience on those LANs.

5. We have seen some promising pictures from the LAN venue. How do you appreciate this new esport arena? Are you waiting for you to be there?

I'm really hyped to play a CoD4 LAN again and even more after schedule was revealed and we play all the games on the stage. Venue is looking very good and even the specs of the PCs are the best we've ever had on CoD4 LAN.

6. What are your expectations about your team’s performance? What kind of final result would you be satisfied?

Honestly only acceptable scenario for everybody in our team is being the Winner. Anything else would be a disappointment for me and my teammates.

7. More than 16 teams will participate in this LAN, what do you think about the teams?

There are some good teams attending such as DENIED, Unknown, PEPFQ and qwertz.

8. Which teams you consider as the biggest threat (rival) for you?

PEPFQ may be one of the biggest threat because they have huge experiences from both ONLINE and LANs. They are the team that is able to adapt and read the game well unlike from teams using just SHIFT+W and pray :-). Unknown, DENIED and qwertz are also threats because we have close games against them.

9. What's your predictions for TOP3 of this LAN event?

I'd say anyone of DENIED, Unknown, PEPFQ, qwertz and us hit the TOP3 and be the winner. It's gonna be very close.

10. What do you think, which team will surprise the opponents? Who is your secret favorite, who is underestimated by the other teams, but you know they will perform really well?

My focus would be on Team Equal. I believe they can surprise anyone with they recent addition of zABZRWx- they also have promising line-up and even can reach TOP3, they are also my favorite. But it's better to not underestimate any other team.

11. Thank you for taking part in the interview. Is there anything you'd like to say?

Thumbs up for Ptica organising this LAN in such a great venue making it an international LAN instead of classic local LAN. Looking forward for our first game on Saturday.
